I recently wrote a blog for JB Media Group, LLC about changes expected for Google+ and YouTube that were announced on July 27, 2015. It clearly explains the update and Google+ and YouTube’s future plans. It has been rumored the Google+ was not viable and may be going away but Google assures us that this is not the case. Google+ still has value when it comes to verifying local business listings and sharing content that is indexed by the Google search engine so if you have a business page then continue to manage, update, and add reviews to it.
Highlights of the Google+ Change
Here are the basics of what is happening:
- YouTube and Google+ will separate. In the recent past Google+ and YouTube were connected and accounts were often auto-generated. This will no longer be the case.
- People love having one login for all their Google tools, but they don’t want to be forced to use Google+. In the future when you create a Google account a Google+ profile will not be auto-generated.
- Google+ Photos will be replaced by Google Photos. The launch of Google Photos, which is an incredible and powerful new tool, has made Google+ photos obsolete. All account holders will be prompted to switch over on the next few months.
